How to post a report Empty How to post a report

Greetings,

We're glad you're here to file a report about a crime within Ravenblack City. There are a couple of things you should note before you file. First off, we DO NOT deal with clan issues! This involves any attack which occurs due to a 'clan war' or your membership in a specific clan. Should this occur, we recommend you contact your designated superior or clan leader. There are however, some exceptions to this. If you were attacked in the Graveyard, then this does move the issue into our jurisdiction. Please also note that the Graveyard is not to be used as sanctuary from attacks at any time.

Please refer to the RBC Penal Codes for a list of what is considered a violation of RBC law. However, please file your report even if a specific crime was not listed there, and we will decide the best approach on the matter.

What your report MUST include:

1. Your vampire name (same spelling and punctuation so that we can contact you within the city)
2. When the incident occured. (date range is acceptable if exact time is unknown if you were asleep)
3. Offenders name (same spelling, punctuation etc, see above. If you have the SS power, please SS the vampire and paste all screen contents (including ID tag) here)
4. Description of incident.

What your report SHOULD include:

1. Witnesses. Who else was present in the square when this occurred? Could there be other victims of the same attack? If the incident involved speech, a scroll of turning, or shouting, please include the name of any vampires in your square and the surrounding squares.

2. Photographs.

One of the best forms of evidence that will assist our investigation, are photographs. (OOC: Screenshots) This allows us to act much more swiftly by saving time taken by witness interviews.

OOC: To take a Screenshot:

PC:
1. Hit Print Screen
2. Open Windows Paint (or other graphics editing application)
3. Click the Edit toolbar, then click Paste
4. Click Save As, then save the file as a .gif

For Windows 7:

The above should still work, but this version of windows includes the 'snipping tool' which can be opened by clicking the windows button on the bottom left corner of the screen, then doing a search for 'snipping tool' (after this you can drag the application to the desktop to create a shortcut if you wish)

Using the snipping tool: This tool allows you to select an area of the screen that you wish to capture. Afterwards you have the ability to save the image. When taking a screenshot from RBC it is best to use .gif format as it will provide a clear crisp picture.

MAC:

1. Hit the key combination Command+Shift+3
(The file of your entire screen will appear on your desktop as PictureX.png)

2. Hit the key combination Command+shift+4. This will allow you to click and select an area of your desktop that you wish to capture.
(The file of selection will appear on your desktop as PictureX.png)

3. Use the "Grab" tool in the utilities menu (or in the preview application in later versions) and take a screenshot in a similar fashion as the windows snipping tool. Once in the Grab tool, you will have to go to the top menu of your screen and select capture. This will give you the option of capturing a selection, an open window, or the entire screen. Once you've made the capture of your choice, click file, save as, and save your file.

The photo (if in jpg or gif format, can be attached to your report directly by clicking the host image button How to post a report Picture_save. Just use the interface to upload your image, then copy the url (bottom of the three options) then click the image embed button How to post a report Picture and paste it into your report.

Alternatively, you can upload your image to another source, eg (photobucket) and then attach it to your report by clicking the image button How to post a report Picture and pasting the url.

If you haven't already taken a screenshot, but have moved/gone to another page with your browser still open, try clicking the back button until you see the past page where the incident occurred.

Registration is required to post a report via this method.
